There are many connections between the Shoshoni/Chuchone and the so called Mexcia/Aztecs. The Shoshoni were known as the Teka, Techos, Tejas, Texia, Chochos or Cocos, in the Neches and Angelina rivers region of modern day Texas. Here are some noteworthy text materials discussing the Shoshoni:

Shoshoni rainbow philosophy is similar if not the same as the Mayan, Aztec, Mexica mythology and philosophy. I’ll be following up on this as this reference brings to the forefront one, Quetzalcoatl or Kukulkan, the “plumed serpent” or “feathered dragon” much celebrated and revered by the Mayan, Aztec, Mexica people.

From Bancroft’s work, it is listed how the Shoshoni/Chuchone are one and the same people with the Hopi/Yope/Jope, Tenimes, Pinomes, Popolocas, Tecos, Tecoxines etc. According to Maria Robinson Wright in Mexico: A history in it’s progress and development in one hundred years, she says on pg. 349 that the Mexica came from the north and “displaced” the Chuchones. See below.

Currently I have more questions than answers, so in my next post, I’ll be discussing more Shoshoni-Mexica connections, but also notes on the early Jesuit military Franscicans missions in East Texas, Oaxaca, Anahuac, and the Karankawa Indians!!!
Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to leave questions or comments!!
Peace out!!!
