Montezuma II– This is an image from a book published in 1892 of what is supposed to be Moctezuma or Montezuma II. There are multiple images of the man, this is just my personal favorite.

The image above according to the New York Public libary was issued between 1777-1890. Please note the spectacular architecture drawn in the image. The American Indian architectural legacy has been pawned off as Greek, Roman, Egytian, Chinese etc, but these styles are apart of the aboriginal culture of North, Central and South America.

His name apparently speaks for himself, Hashukanah, in English- Can’t Kill Him, also a spanish language name of Placido who may also be Placido Benavides written in Mexica and Texas history. He was apart of a treaty signed with the United States on 15 May 1846 and ratified on 8 March 1847. See below.

Ishak Indians aka Atakapa

Source: https://64parishes.org/entry/alexandre-de-batz Source: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Atakapa-Ishak
From what I’ve read and seen online “Atakapa” is a derogatory term and the people prefer to be called Ishak. With this in mind, please note the man labeled as Atakapa at the far right of the image. Please note his short afro as well as the afro of Hashukanah above. There is a person labeled a “negro” in the painting who I think is a dark-skinned European youth from Spain or Portugal from his red head dress. Just my thoughts on his placement in the image with the various American Indians depicted. The painting is from 1735 according to source and whats written on it.
